The GIFTED project focuses on the design, development, and validation of complex medical devices made of Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) alloy. The main phases include the setup of an Additive Manufacturing (AM) plant, the virtual design and optimization of the device, feasibility analysis through AM, and the functional and mechanical testing of the final prototypes.

The ultimate goal (demonstrator) of the RIMMEL project is the development and validation (TRL6) of at least two types of coating architectures (nickel plating and nickel plating + tribological top coating) applied to AM components made of aluminum alloys and stainless steels (Prototype Models), which exhibit high adhesion to the substrate, low dry friction, low wear, and corrosion resistance.
