Lorenzo Antonioli joined the Metallurgy Research Group in April 2025 as a research fellow, after earning his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in March of the same year with top honours (110/110 cum laude). His thesis, carried out in collaboration with Fonderia San Possidonio in Modena, focused on the study of new solution heat treatment parameters for the T6 treatment of a secondary aluminum alloy, in order to make the heat treatment process more economically sustainable and environmentally friendly, while maintaining the same static mechanical properties as those achieved with the current T6 treatment parameters used in the plant.
His current research activity involves the microstructural characterization and the study of rotating bending fatigue behavior of both traditional quenched and tempered and carbon-neutral steels for mechanical components used in industrial operating machines.
